This week, I’m positively smitten with…
1. Vacations: Last week, I finally took a vacation. And if you’re lucky enough to have a job that gives you vacation time, I hope you’re planning on using yours, too! It doesn’t have to be someplace fancy, although it can be; sometimes just a vacation from work — a chance to do nothing, or to see friends, or to spend time with family — is enough. Spontaneous trips, like Steph mentioned in her recent smitten list, can be a great way to spend your vacation time, too. I recently read an article over at Gawker that had a great point: “That job don’t love you. That job is not your friend. That job is not looking out for you. […] It is not the job’s fault; it is in the job’s nature. Therefore it is up to you to look out for yourself. You gotta love yourself in this world. Take that time off.”
2. Alex and Ani: These bracelets certainly aren’t new, but they are a staple of my everyday wardrobe. I have amassed a pretty decent collection (thanks to the generosity of my loved ones!) and I like to wear three bracelets on my left arm each day. Whenever the urge strikes, I swap the bracelets out for some others (around my birthday, for example, I wore my birthstone bracelet; now that I recently went to to Disney World, I’ve got my Disney bracelet!). There are so many cute bangles to choose from and they also make great gifts.
3. Journals: I always find myself thinking I can never have enough journals and notebooks. I am a complete office-supply junkie, and back-to-school time is my favorite. Everywhere I look, there are notebooks and pens and highlighters and folders and I am so enthralled. I’ll probably never be able to fill up all of the notebooks and journals I already have, but that doesn’t stop me from collecting them. I use them to write down everything from to-do lists to reminders to writing ideas to shopping lists. What’s something you collect?
