Crystal’s Smitten List: Taylor Swift, Last Week Tonight, Enjoy Today

This week, I’m smitten with…

1. Taylor Swift: I’ll admit it — I never really saw the appeal of Taylor Swift. But after downloading and loving her album Red (if you say you don’t bop along to “22,” you’re lying); drooling over her amazing wardrobe/style; and getting all warm and fuzzy over how she interacts with her fans, I’ve seen the light. The recent video of her stopping by Boston Children’s Hospital to hang out with a 5-year-old cutie pie named Jordan sealed the deal for me. Taylor is sweet, genuine, and I kind of love her now, guys.

2. Last Week Tonight: John Oliver — who you may know from the time he filled in for Comedy Central-host Jon Stewart on “The Daily Show” or his role on “Community” — who recently began hosting HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. The show is quickly becoming my favorite way of staying up-to-date on the news. (I especially loved his recent piece  about the line between editorial content and advertising, and I think my journalist friends will too!) His segments are funny, witty, and informative — and well worth the watch.

3. Enjoy Today: It’s a simple sentiment — “Enjoy Today” — but one I certainly don’t do enough. I don’t take enough time to pause, to relax, or to savor. So when I came across this quote on Pinterest, I had to save it. I hope it’ll help inspire me to cherish each day for what it is.

What are you positively smitten with this week?

  1. I’ve always been a Taylor fan as a singer-songwriter and entertainer, but after viewing this video, I’m also an admirer of her sweet and compassionate side too!
