Crystal’s Smitten List: Anniversaries, TalkTo, Musicals

This week, I’m positively smitten with…

1. Anniversaries: Today, my boyfriend and I celebrate eight lovely years together. Bill is more than my boyfriend, he is my very best friend and I’m thankful every day that he’s in my life. Although we do our best to show each other we care every day, our anniversary is special because it’s a day that’s all about us!

2. TalkTo: If you’re shy, or if you experience anxiety, or if you just don’t enjoy talking on the phone, this app (and website) is for you. TalkTo allows you to ask questions to local businesses by sending a text instead of calling. If the business isn’t set up to receive texts, then a TalkTo agent will contact them on your behalf. You can make reservations, check to see if a certain item is in stock at a store, or check business hours. Try it!

3. Musicals: Over the weekend, I saw Ghost the Musical with my grandma, and we had a fantastic time. The musical version was every bit as great (and sappy and kind of cheesy) as the original 1990 film starring Demi Moore, Patrick Swayze, and Whoopi Goldberg. I really, really loved it. Over the years, I’ve developed a soft spot for musicals. On my list of some I’d like to see: The Book of Mormon; Aladdin; Matilda the Musical; and Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Meanwhile, two of my favorites were The Lion King and Wicked, which I’d highly recommend for anyone who’s new to theater. (And, for great deals on these kinds of Broadway/traveling shows, sign up for a coupon service like TravelZoo, which currently has a deal running for Cinderella!)
