Crystal’s Smitten List: Fruity Cocktails, On the Run Tour, Pop Culture Watercolors

This week, I’m positively smitten with…

1. Fruity Cocktails: I may not be a big fan of alcohol, but disguise it in a fruit drink and I’m in. My mom first introduced me to the ingredients of what is now my favorite drink: coconut rum, pineapple juice, and cranberry juice. Now that the weather is getting a bit warmer, I’ve swapped my wine out for these fruity drinks and they’re delicious. As Bill is always the one who plays bartender, here’s his “recipe” for my perfect drink:

  • Full glass of ice
  • 1 part coconut rum
  • 2 parts pineapple juice
  • 1 part cranberry juice

Other variations: try pineapple vodka instead of coconut rum, or feel free to add a little orange juice in addition to the pineapple and cranberry. Yum!

2. On the Run Tour: You may remember a few months ago when I lost my damn mind over Beyonce’s latest album. Although I couldn’t make it to the Mrs. Carter World Tour, she announced yesterday that she and Jay Z will be heading out on a joint tour, called On The Run. I’m in love with this idea, and here’s to hoping I’m able to get tickets! (Edited to add: I got them!!!)

3. Pop Culture Watercolor Art: Okay, I will admit that I have strange taste sometimes and this is certainly one of them — but I love, love, love, these pop culture-inspired watercolor paintings by ohgoshCindy on Etsy. They’re hilarious, quirky, and would make exceptional conversation pieces no matter where you hung them. (“Why do you have a watercolor portrait of Kim Kardashian crying?” Answer: WHY NOT?)  Hands down, my favorite is the portrait of Lauren Conrad with a black tear rolling down her cheek, a la the infamous scene from “The Hills.” Below, clockwise: Mindy Lahiri from “The Mindy Project”; Cher Horowitz of “Clueless”; Lauren Conrad from “The Hills”; Kim Kardashian from “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.”
