In part 1 and part 2, your resident goo-guru (Annie) and CVSaholic (Liz) covered their favorite drugstore eye and lip cosmetics… now, we’re covering the best body and face products. Here we go!
Burt’s Bees Naturally Nourishing Body Lotion Milk & Honey
A: This is the only scented lotion I use. It smells delicious and I always get compliments on it. It’s 99% natural, non-irritating, and feels luxurious.
L: This is my favorite moisturizer for the face. A little bit goes a long way, so make sure to not put on too much. Apply immediately after you cleanse while your face is still a little bit moist for optimal effect. This cream is heavier than a lotion so I typically only apply once a day and at night.
Aveeno Active Naturals Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF 15
A: Pump is nice, so it doesn’t get under your nails. I love a moisturizer with sunscreen!
Dove Go Fresh Revive 48hr Anti-Perspirant Deodorant (Pomegranate and Lemon Verbena)
A: This deodorant smells amazing. It goes on smooth, not chunky, and lasts for a long time.
Dove Everyday Body Mist Go Fresh (pictured above alongside the deodorant)
L: I carry this in my purse at all times. It’s refreshing and long-lasting, especially for the price. You will only need a few spritzes, as it’s pretty strong. It’s perfect to have for on-the-go purposes and emergencies!
Tom’s Deodorant (not pictured)
A: This is not an anti-perspirant, but somehow it works like one. No sweaty armpits and no risk of breast cancer.
SHAVING
Schick Intuition Pure Nourishment
L: This is my favorite shaver for legs because no shaving cream is required. I’ve been using this for years and can only recall cutting myself a handful of times, and those only resulted when the cartridge was all used and I didn’t have any new ones to replace it with. It makes shaving easy and fast so it feels like less of a chore.
Burt’s Bees Herbal Blemish Stick with Tea Tree Leaf Oil
A: Not drying like benzyol peroxide or salicydic acid spot treatments, so I use it liberally.
Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Foaming Scrub
A: Smells so good and leaves skin feeling refreshed. Works on most skin types.
Clean & Clear Morning Burst Facial Scrub / Facial Brightening Scrub
A: Pat (don’t rub) it all over your face and leave it on for 3 minutes. It works with the steam from your shower, so wash or shave something else while you wait. After 3 minutes, rub it around your face as you wash it off to activate the Whoosh! feeling. Morning Burst is right.
L: I tried the Facial Brightening Scrub (yellow bottle) after Annie recommended it to me… whoa! This stuff is amazing and has officially made its way into my skin routine — I use it twice a week now and I’ve noticed a big difference.
Olay Professional ProX Advanced Cleansing System 2-speed facial cleansing brush
L: This cleansing brush works wonders. It will give your skin an incredibly deep clean and exfoliate all the dead skin from your face, leaving it as smooth as a baby’s bottom. I wouldn’t recommend using it more than twice a week, or once a week if you have sensitive or irritable skin.
L: Once recommended to me by a skincare specialist, this is the perfect cleanser for my sensitive skin. My skin tends to be more dry than oily and has had negative reactions to many cleansers in the past. This product does a great job of cleaning my face and removing make-up and the dirt my face has accumulated throughout the day. I wash my face with this cleanser twice every day; once in the morning, and again at night. It’s best to pat this on your skin, leave on for a few minutes and then remove with a wet facial sponge.
Garnier BB Cream Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector SPF 20
A: This tinted moisturizer is just as pigmented as foundation, but so much lighter. It gives a healthy glow and conceals scars.
Olay Tone Correcting CC Cream Moisturizer with Sunscreen SPF 15
A: This is sheerer than the Garnier BB Cream. It has 2 different colors: a warm tone and a cool tone, which blends in nicely with the skin. My mother uses this as well because it diminishes the appearance of fine lines. This works great as a primer or on its own.
L’Oreal True Match Naturale Gentle Mineral Makeup
L: I didn’t use foundation for a long time — it’s really only been the past three years that I began to use it. I am fortunate enough to very rarely have acne, so I primarily use this foundation to even my skin tone. This is a mineral powder that already comes with a brush. You can also buy a bronzer (that also comes with a brush) to apply on top of the foundation. It works for me because it’s convenient, easy, lasts all day, and goes on smoothly. I also love the True Match Naturale liquid concealer!
