This week, I’m positively smitten with…
1. My fiancé: I just really, really love him. He was in a bad car wreck on Friday (he’s okay), which has forced us both to slow down and appreciate each other. Go give the person you love a hug and tell them you care about them!
2. Women on the Map: I recently downloaded an app called Field Trip. Field Trip is like having your own personal tour guide right in your phone. The app (powered by Google Maps) alerts you to nearby historic landmarks, art and museums, and fun things to do. But they recently added a new feature called Women on the Map, which can alert you to nearby places where women made history. According to the SPARK, the creators of the feature, they wanted to improve visibility for women in history who’ve done great things. So far, they’ve written about 100 women, but they’re continuing to add to their archives. You can even contribute by sending in some write-ups about women who inspire you.
3. Supergirls: A group of Supergirls made an appearance at the White House Science Fair recently, and they were the cutest. The science fair gives young thinkers and innovators a chance to showcase their discoveries and inventions. The Supergirls — 6-year-olds from Tulsa, OK, who wore capes over their Girl Scout uniforms — demonstrated their invention, a page-turning robot that was designed for use by disabled people. And they made it out of Legos! If that’s not impressive, I don’t know what is.
