This week, I’m positively smitten with…
1. Valentino Pre-Fall 2015: I don’t often follow along with the collections from high-end fashion designers (I’m mostly fine shopping at Target), but I really love the Valentino pre-fall 2015 galaxy-inspired collection. It takes the trend of galaxy clothing to a new level. I like that every piece from the collection looks like something Miss Frizzle, the teacher from the 1990s cartoon “The Magic School Bus” would wear! Check out all of the looks here.
2. Oreo Icebox Cake: Well, a salted caramel Oreo icebox cake, to be exact, but that was a little too long for the title of this post. I first made this recipe for Bill’s birthday back in October and we both enjoyed it so much, I offered to make it again to celebrate Valentine’s Day! This recipe combines cheesecake and Oreos with salted caramel and coffee, and it’s divine. This is one of the easiest desserts I’ve ever made, but it’s super tasty.
3. Radical Brownies: I can’t think of a greater organization than the Radical Brownies. Created by Marilyn Hollinques in 2014, the Radical Brownies are a little different from other Brownie troops — they’re a radical young girl’s social justice troop for young girls of color ages 8-12. Their mission is to empower young girls of color to do everything from discussing important social issues, such as the Black Lives Matter movement, to learning to love and appreciate themselves, to doing fun activities like creating their own beauty products including sugar scrubs. This group is totally going places, and I love that it provides a positive, supportive, informed place for young girls of color to grow!
