This week, I’m positively smitten with…
1. Women in Art: I’ve always been interested in art, but this series of posts from The Toast makes art funny. In articles titled Women Having A Terrible Time At Parties In Western Art History and Women Who Want To Be Alone In Western Art History, the writers take celebrated works of historical art and add silly captions, which taps into my immature sensibilities. (If you like this, I also highly recommend checking out FlyArt Productions, which combines art and hip hop lyrics, or Medieval POC, for actual art history.)
2. The Beauty Department: I not-so-secretly adore Lauren Conrad, so it should be no surprise that I follow her and her brand pretty closely. Through Conrad, I stumbled across The Beauty Department, a beauty blog dedicated to hair, nails, and makeup tips and tutorials that are so easy even I can follow them. (Lauren herself is often a model for some of the posts.) I’m loving their latest post about achieving nails inspired by fall foliage!
3. Winter accessories: I don’t like talking about the s-word (snow) before I have to, but let’s face it: it’s getting cold out. In Connecticut, we’ve already had some snow, and it’s been frigidly cold! The only good part about the colder weather is the wintry accessories I get to wear. I love mittens, knitted hats, scarves, leg warmers, and boots! This season, I highly recommend investing in at least some a glove and scarves (although I’m really feeling winter hats lately, too!). Check out Old Navy to get started — they have a fantastic selection for women and men, and their items are always very cozy.
