This week, I’m positively smitten with…
1. Concerts: I’ve been to plenty of shows by now, and tonight, I’ll get to experience my idol, Beyonce, live in concert. I love going to concerts; I love everything about them. The excitement leading up to the show. The butterflies in your stomach just before. That feeling when the lights go down and the show is finally about to start. The thrill of seeing one of your favorite performers on stage. The euphoria of hearing your most beloved songs performed live. That realization that yes, right now, I’m creating a memory. The shared moment between you and everyone in the crowd when you realize you’re all there for the same reason: because you share a passion. I’ve been lucky enough to attend concerts since I was about 11 years old, and I hope I never outgrow them.
2. Grilling: Just last week, my parents stopped by for a lovely dinner. While they were here, my dad shared some of his grilling techniques with us. In the winter, I forget how much I love grilled foods, but I do love taking advantage of outdoor cooking in the summer, so I’m thrilled that we’ve finally set our grill up and know how to use it! (It was also part of my bucket list, so I can check that one off.) If you’re new to grilling (like me), these beginner tips are immensely useful. Mostly, grilling with people you care about is a really nice way to spend time together, often outside, and eat great food. What’s better than that?
3. Comic book fashions: By now, thanks to the numerous Smitten Lists I’ve penned, you probably know I have a thing for clothes. My latest obsession is comic book-inspired fashion. I recently snagged a beautiful Roy Lichtenstein-esque dress from Modcloth, and I’m not ashamed to admit that I have a couple of comic book hair bows. Fashion Tips from Comic Strips, a blog curated and created by fashionista and cosplayer Betty Felon, is an awesome resource to find adorable comic-inspired accessories, dresses, and more.
