This week, I’m positively smitten with:
1. Dollar Stores: I have to give a shout out to discount variety stores like Family Dollar. In recent months, I’ve gone in multiple times to grab various household items, like soap, and walked out with much more significant items to decorate my home with, like vases and wall art. In fact, much of the chotskies in my home came from Walmart and dollar stores! A part of me was embarrassed to admit that at first, but when company comes over and compliments what they see around my home, I figured I may as well tell them it was a great find at a low price! Who knew there could be such great purchases from dollar stores?!
2. Get-Togethers: I am very, very fortunate that I’m surrounded by family who will spend an entire weekend at our home in Massachusetts. I adore hosting people for days at a time, and it means a lot to me when visitors spend their precious time here with us. My boyfriend Chris and I do a lot to create a home away from home for our visitors, and I must say everyone is a great sport about going along with my plans, like walking our neighborhood, having special meals, playing yard games, etc. When I had a large group over for Father’s Day weekend, I referred to these tips from my mom on hosting a stress-free gathering (the article was originally written for the winter holidays, but the advice holds true all year long.)
3. S’mores: To me, s’mores are heaven between two graham crackers. There is no better summer snack than a s’more, simply because it’s easy, fun, delicious, and typically includes friends around a campfire. Next time you grab s’more ingredients at the grocery store, pick up a few additional items to make one of these 12 creative s’more ideas: Cinnamon Caramel S’more…Grasshopper S’more…Lemon Meringue S’more…yum.
