I used to dread making New Year’s resolutions because my “goals” for the following year were so big and lofty that I was automatically setting myself up for failure. It wasn’t until I was a little older that I realized practical, attainable, and (most importantly) specific resolutions worked best – at least for me. Last year, for example, I made it a resolution to try 15 different types of tea and to learn one new skill, both of which I was able to achieve in 2013 (for what it’s worth, I learned to knit!). It helped that these were things I actually wanted to do; writing them down helped me gain some focus.
For 2014, here’s what I would like to achieve or to work on, to coincide with what we at Positively Smitten consider significant aspects of young women’s lives:
Beauty: Plan outfits ahead of time to save me time and stress in the morning. Also, accessorize!
Career: Pursue a new freelance opportunity – even if it doesn’t pan out
DIY: Knit a blanket
Entertainment: Read more books (and read them slowly)
Inspiration: Finally edit that book I wrote
Life: Be kinder to myself
Relationships: Have date night once a week
Wellness: Try to relax and slow down – life’s too short!
Happy New Year! And be sure to check out Steph’s resolutions right here.
