To Our Dear Friends: A Special Message for Each of You | Positively Smitten

By Kendra Williams

Being part of a military family means that I very rarely get a chance to see any of my friends because of the distance between us. I think about them a lot and speak with them every chance I get. Even though we aren’t near each other we are closer than ever in heart.

I want all of my friends to know that no matter how far away we are or what part of life’s journey they are partaking, I will always be here for them and we will always be friends.

So, without further ado, this is to all of my dear friends…

To my dear single friends, just because you are single does not mean you are alone. Whenever you need someone to talk to, I will always be here. I am more than happy to laugh, cry and joke with you through the early hours of the morning.

To my dear college bound friends, I know that you are scared, anxious and excited all at the same time. I hope that you have the time of your life. This is a time for you to live, learn and make mistakes, but you must always be responsible.

To my dear married friends, marriage may be the hardest thing you’ve ever done, but you are doing great! Marrying your best friend and raising a family is one of the most beautiful things in life.

To my dear depressed friends, I know exactly how you feel and you are not alone in the struggle to live a normal everyday life. I know that it may take some time, but we will eventually find our new happy. I just hope that we can find it sooner than later.

To my dear dating friends, enjoy every date you go on. Even if you think it was the worst date ever, always try to find the brighter side. Even if there wasn’t a love connection, at least you’ll have a great story to come back to tell all of us.

To my dear career-minded friends, always stay focused. Never let anyone try to make you feel bad just because you are a woman and you love your job. Make goals, accomplish your goals, and don’t forget to celebrate being the hard working woman you are.

To my dear mommy friends, love your children as hard as you can. Always kiss your children good night and hug them every day. If they say you are embarrassing them, hug them a little tighter just so they know that no matter how old they get, they will always be your baby.

To my dear adventurous friends, I am so happy that you are living life to the fullest. I love hearing your stories and living vicariously through you. Thank you for the handmade seashell necklace and all of the wonderful snow globes. They will always be treasured.

To my dear divorced friends, I can’t begin to imagine how painful divorce can be. I’ve seen you cry, laugh and be angry. I may not be able to give you advice about going through a divorce, but I am here to listen if you need someone to talk to.

To my dear twenty-something friends, yes, you only live once but do not take this as a time to live recklessly. This time is meant for you to have fun, but do not forget that the future is near.

To my dear thirty-something friends, we’ve finally made it and being here is great!

To my dear best friends, we may go days or weeks without being able to speak to each other, but know that you are always in my heart. When we finally get a chance to talk, it’s like nothing has changed and we are giggling school girls again talking about anything and everything we can think of. I miss you all so much.

To all of my dear friends, never forget that you are needed, loved and cherished and you can always count on me, your dear friend, Kendra.

  1. This motivates me to write letters to all my good pals, just to reach out so they know I’m thinking of me.

  2. Oops, I meant to say “them” not “me”!

  3. This is so sweet and thoughtful, Kendra! I loved reading this and like Steph, it made me want to write a note to my friends as well.
